My heart goes out to you. I live in the area and will keep my eyes open for him. Is he microchipped? I hope is found and soon safe at home. Try the volunteers at "I Lost My Dog" 732-240-4181. I know they get great results.

Anyone in the East Dover area, Please, Please check your yards, under decks, under trees anywhere you think a scared dog may hide to feel safe.... I was told these dogs are usually found in a 1/2 mile range of home. We are devastated and broken without him :o(

Sue,
I am praying Shane finds his way back home.
I saw this last night on my friend's Facebook page, and have posted it to mine.
I live off of Oceanview, and know the area well. I drove around last night and this afternoon in the Texas/Colorado Street area, hoping I'd catch a glimpse of him.
Shane seems like he'd be a hard dog for people to miss if he's wandering around. If he's as friendly as you say, someone may have taken him in. If you haven't already, saturate the area with 'lost dog' posters, especially by traffic lights and stop signs. (Make sure the bulk of the poster is a picture of him. Even if they don't stop to read it, people will see the photo. If they do come across Shane, they'll be more apt to read the contact info. I've seen too many 'lost' posters with a tiny photo and too much information. Unless a person purposely stops to read it, they'll just pass it by and ignore it.)
If someone has taken him in, the only way they'd realize that you are actively looking for him is if they read your post online. Posting flyers around town would give you the best chance of spreading the word and reaching them.
Please know I'm not trying to preach. I just know what it is like to have a missing pet. The feeling of helplessness can be overwhelming. Just try and do as much as possible.
I'll make it a point to keep taking a detour through the area when I go out.
Be hopeful. Someone must have seen Shane. Give them the best information you can!

-Shawn

Keep the faith! He will be found, just pray he is returned. My cousin in Scotland just recently lost her dog on a hike. He was searched for all day for three days and then a bird watcher found him. He is a collie breeed also and made it thru those days and nights in the snow & freezing weather. I hope & pray Shane does too!!

Tell the mailman, UPS/Fedex drivers, school bus drivers, neighbors, local petstores, groomers, vets, etc. The more people you get the flyer to, the better. If you get any sightings, mark them out on a map. Good luck. Hope this boy is found soon. He looks just like my very first sheltie.

Put more flyers up today and spoke to alot of people who have seen them. Which is good. The more people know about him the better. Everyone I spoke to very interested in finding him and will tell others. I also put them on my car windows and getting comments from people that way also.

NO they saw the SIGNS! Not Shane, I wish. I drove around the area and looked again yesterday but nothing. But people are seeing the signs and looking for him. The more signs we can get up the better. I am going alittle more out of the area with the flyers with the hope someone will know something.

I took a quick drive through the neighborhood tonight - but didn't see anything. I don't live directly nearby, and it would be quite a hike for him to get here - but whenever I take my dogs for a walk, I always bring an extra leash just in case. I hope and pray you can find him safely. I can't imagine what you are going through - if any of our dogs went missing, it would be a nightmare.

No problem, Sue.

Hung a few more up around some key intersections last night, and I have 50 more that will go up today.

I made a new flyer with a larger print of both Shane and the contact number. Going to branch out from the original area a bit.

Don't give up hope! It only takes one person to see it and make the connection!
Call me if you need anything else!

I have been keeping my eyes open for Shane. I heard them announce him on the radio this morning. I will tell my dog walker if she doesn't already know. She has been away, and probably hasn't heard. She has dogs that she walks in several areas.
I hope he is found. I have two dogs of my own and I would be heartbroken. The only reward that I would want is to hear that he is home safe and sound.

Shane is home! Thank you EVERYONE for all your help. A bus driver saw him on Coolidge Ave. in Toms River on Sunday night and again this morning. The search team went out this afternoon and they got him! He's a little thin and very dirty, but happy to be back home where he belongs. I cant thank everyone enough for all your tireless efforts and time. He wouldn't be back home without ALL your help!! God bless you all! xox
