Silverton's 5th Annual Fall Festival and Poker Run Another Success
Held at Sliverton Fire House Saturday, crowds enjoy festivities
One of the larger seasonal festivals in Toms River brought together the Silverton community on Saturday Oct. 13. It featured a day of fun, community education and fall activities.
Silverton Fire Company, at its Station 29 on Kettle Creek, hosted its 5th Annual Fall Festival and Poker Run.
The fun started at 11 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m., and Lt. Mike Cocco said this year's festival was one of the largest yet, drawing a possible record number of crowds.
Fire truck demostrations and presentations, including some of the vintage pieces at the station, took place throughout the day.
A pumpkin patch, pony rides, and even fire truck rides, were available. Firefighters completed in a vehicle extrication, and helped explain both rescue and fire prevention.
Numerous community associations and businesses participated and helped sponsor the event, which also featured food and drink for sale and live bands throughout.
A motorcycle and classic car display delighted onlookers.

I think the motorcycle riders had a certain number of destinations to go to and pick up cards to make a hand.
