Beach Guide: Island Beach State Park
$50 for a season of well-preserved beachfront
ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK: Scenic, preserved beach offers swimming, kayaking, hiking, and more.
Unlike other beaches, Island Beach State Park does not require visitors to purchase beach tags. Instead, they charge a per vehicle entrance fee.
From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, the beach is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until dusk. On Saturday, Sunday, and holidays, the beach is open from 7 a.m. until dusk. Per vehicle fees are $6 on weekdays and $10 on weekends and holidays. A state park season pass is $50.
Parking lots occasionally get full. When this happens, no new vehicles are allowed to enter.
The beach will be staffed with lifeguards on Memorial Day weekend and the first weekend in June. From June 11 through Labor Day, the beach is staffed everyday. When lifeguards are present, they are on duty from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
No dogs are allowed in the main swimming area.
Restrooms, showers, first aid, and concession stations are located adjacent to the main swimming beach areas.
The Island Beach State Park office is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to answer any other questions. Call (732) 793-0506.
