Beach Guide: Lavallette

An active beach and bayfront

Lavallette has both an active beach and bay scene. Activities on the beach include swimming, surfing, and ocean kayaking. Along the bay are four playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and biking.  The bayfront is also a popular spot for water activities, including fishing and boating.

Seasonal beach and bay passes (for swimmers) are available for $35 until June 13. The price increases to $45 on June 14. Badges are $24 for seniors 65 and older, veterans, and disabled persons. The Beach Badge Office, located next to Borough Hall and Police Headquarters on Rt. 35 North between Brooklyn and Washington streets, is open Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their number is (732) 793-2111. Daily badges are $7 and can be purchased at beachfront entrances. Children under 12 are always free.

The beach opens and is staffed with lifeguards daily beginning June 18.  Lifeguards are on duty from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Swimming is allowed only in designated areas. Boogie boarding is allowed between the white and blue flags. Surfing spots are located at Haddonfield Ave, Brown Ave, and Trenton Ave. For questions regarding the beach, watersports, and lifeguarding call Lifeguard Headquarters at (732) 793-2566.
