As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many view this month as a time to commemorate their own recovery or that of someone close to them. For others we remember and mourn the loss of a loved one. For all of us, however, this month offers a chance to reflect on the advances we have made in fighting this disease, and reminds us that there is still a great deal of work to be done.
The National Cancer Institute has determined breast cancer to be the second most common type of cancer among women in the United States, with more than 2.5 million American women having suffered from breast cancer at one point during their lifetime. The Susan G. Komen Foundation estimates that in just 2012 there will be nearly 227,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed and nearly 40,000 deaths as a result of breast cancer. New Jersey in particular has one of the highest incidences of breast cancer in the United States, with roughly 130 women out of every 100,000 developing breast cancer.

We must continue to work toward finding a cure for breast cancer, as well as a way to identify and prevent breast cancer before it threatens the lives of the women we all love and care about. This can be accomplished through a continued commitment to science, research, and advocacy as well as by educating young women on the signs and risk factors for breast cancer. The Feds state they will lose 25 billion that won't get paid back. Funny how the the union members ended up with an extra 25 billion....paid for by taxpayers to buy union votes. Lets hope that these union people figure out that it was a one shot deal from Obama, take the money and run, Hopefully they realize ow they, thier kids and grandkids will be screwed more with more Obama. GM did pay back the federal government but Ford didn't yet and this is from Forbes Magazine a credible source of business news:
"It’s been three years since General Motors and Chrysler filed for bankruptcy, but with the political season in full swing, the two presidential candidates have put the auto industry bailouts back in the public eye, at least through the November election. Yet there’s only one Detroit automaker still in hock to U.S. taxpayers and – guess what? – it’s not GM or Chrysler.
Ford Motor owes the government $5.9 billion it borrowed in June 2009, the same month GM filed for bankruptcy. By Sept. 15, Ford needs to start paying that money back. In a government filing, the carmaker said $577 million is due within the next year, and the full amount must be paid off by June 15, 2022."

GM is owned by the taxpayers. They lost $50 BILLION on this investment.
During the depths of the financial crisis, the U.S. government spent some $85 billion to rescue Chrysler, GM, and a few of their suppliers, in order to prevent the two large automakers from imploding. According to the latest U.S. Treasury report, taxpayers will now lose $25.1 billion on those auto bailouts. That’s $3.3 billion more than previously estimated. And it’s not even the final price. So how costly could the bailout get, anyway?
And how did GM pay us back with our own money anyway?

Emails obtained show that the U.S. Treasury Department, led by Timothy Geithner, was the driving force behind terminating the pensions of 20,000 salaried retirees at the Delphi auto parts manufacturing company. The move, made in 2009 while the Obama administration implemented its auto bailout plan, appears to have been made solely because those retirees were not members of labor unions.
NOT UNION = SCREWED
The internal government emails contradict sworn testimony, in federal court and before Congress, given by several Obama administration figures. They also indicate that the administration misled lawmakers and the courts about the sequence of events surrounding the termination of those non-union pensions, and that administration figures violated federal law.
Delphi, a General Motors company, is one of the world's largest automotive parts manufacturers. Twenty thousand of its workers lost nearly their entire pensions when the government bailed out GM. At the same time, Delphi employees who were members of the United Auto Workers union saw their pensions topped off and made whole.
