Car Fire Extinguished at Holy Cross Lutheran Church

Automobile blaze extinguished by Silverton fire company, cause currently undetermined

The Silverton Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 put out a car fire at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Toms River this afternoon, arriving at the scene of the blaze on Hooper Avenue just before 2 p.m. today.

“We arrived on location with two engines responding, and the car was fully engulfed,” said Lt. Michael Cocco of the fire company.

The fire was brought under control soon after firefighters came to the scene, and was put out completely a short time later.

Though officials have not narrowed down the cause of the fire yet, Cocco said that an investigation is currently underway.

“It’s undetermined right now, but it is being investigated,” said Cocco.

Glad no one was injured.

Seriously, the APP reported that the driver was southbound on Hooper when he smelled smoke and pulled into the lot.
