The coaster is a hazard out there to swimmers and surfers.
If they want to 'memorialize' it, they should chopper-lift it to the giant parking lot at the entrance of Seaside coming from 37... maybe open a small museum in the reinstalled Visitor's Information Center (back where it belongs) right there commemorating this and past storms as well as Seaside's previous era(s) as fun city. Sell trinkets and sea-related do-dads, photos and art by locals, and Restore shirts there w/% going to building upkeep.

You know that it's only a matter of time before idiots try to swim out to the coaster to have their photos taken, etc. It has to be moved.

Honestly, I don't see any "museum" value in the coaster. Move it, dismantle it and sell it for scrap metal. It would bring in a significant amount of money and the funds could be used toward recovery efforts.

Also, I know I'm in the minority, but I would like to see Seaside return to it's natural state. Clear out the debris and damage and let the area return to uncluttered beach for the first time in over 100 years. This is Seaside's chance to start with a clean slate and change it's image.

Maybe Mother Nature was saying, "Look, I'm sick of drunks, kitschy shops and junk crapping up this stretch of shore. I want my beach back."

Well said however as a child of the 90's what is where I grew up along with all the memories of that pier in live experiences. I agree it has to go and the museum idea is in fact laughable, but lets get it back to where it was recently so my children can have their memories as I have been so blessed to have! Ps I hated that damn "jersey shore" show! Thats not what it was when I stomped those boards!!

Why? The Boardwalk made a lot of money...So many liked the "jersey shore" The store was always busy!
