At 11 a.m. today, despite this morning's surprise weather which canceled the parade, veterans and their families gathered in the post-thunderstorm sun and heat to commemorate those who gave their lives defending the United States.

Toms River Township Council members introduced the president of American Legion Post 129, Ray Miller, who in turn brought up members of the Post to recite from Thomas Campbell's "In Hallowed Ground."

Also present were members from the Marine Corps League Detachment 796, Silverton Fire Co. Station 29, American Legion Auxiliary for Post 129, and the American Legion Riders.

Though short, the event was memorable.  Please enjoy the photos of the event, and leave your comments below!
