Court Blotter: Resident Indicted on Charges of Assaulting Cops

Ocean County grand jurors hand up indictments

A Toms River man has been indicted after being arrested on charges of assaulting police officers.

An Ocean County grand jury last week indicted Shaun Cunningham of Baypoint Drive in connection with an Aug. 18 arrest in Seaside Heights where he allegedly assaulted Patrolmen Anthony Rodriguez and Richard Sasso. Authorities charged him with two counts of second-degree assault. 

Cunningham also was charged with resisting arrest for allegedly impeding Sasso's efforts to detain him.

The Toms River man was initially held on $25,000 bail, no 10 percent option, but posted Aug. 18.

  • Three Beachwood residents and a Bayville man on charges of damaging a boat in South Toms River.

Authorities allege Valerie Pine, Vilhelm H. Rasmussen, Ralph J. Silvestri, all of Beachwood, and Patrick D. Worrall Jr. of Bayville caused less than $2,000 in damage to a boat docked at Atlantic City Boulevard. The group also did not have legal access to the 1967 37-foot boat, authorities charge.

Pine, Rasmussen, Silvestri and Worrall were each charged with burglary and criminal mischief, both third-degree crimes, for the July 22 incident.

Each were initially held on $15,000 bail, no 10 percent option, but all posted and were released in July.

  • Clarissa C. Dorsey of Tolerance Court on a shoplifting charge.

Dorsey is accused of stealing more than $200 worth of merchandise from Stop & Shop. She was released on a summons.
