An officer crosses the street to address the accident he just witnessed, involving a driver who was trying to get his attention.
Two vehicles involved in a minor accident turn onto Courthouse Lane so as to not block Washington Avenue traffic.

A driver, stopping abruptly to talk to a police officer who was waiting to cross the street, was rear-ended by the vehicle behind hers.

The minor motor vehicle accident occurred just after 2 p.m. today. A black sedan traveling west on Washington Street braked as its driver saw a police officer on the sidewalk in front of the Ocean County Library and began rolling down her car window, smiling and trying to talk to the officer. At that moment the car behind her, a tan SUV, rear-ended the vehicle, at the intersection of Washington and Courthouse Lane.

The officer, having just witnessed the accident, then approached the vehicles and asked them to turn onto Courthouse Lane for questioning and to allow vehicular traffic to continue to flow on Washington Avenue, as they were now blocking traffic.
