Toms River police responded to a hit and run motor vehicle accident at Morningdale Boulevard and Crestview Lane in the Pleasant Plains section of the township earlier this week.

Traffic Safety Officer Steven Schwartz arrived at the scene in the gated senior community of Lake Ridge, and observed a dodge pickup truck resting on its roof, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Officer Vincent Pedalino, after being assisted by witnesses, located another vehicle involved in the accident that had apparently fled the scene, a 2012 Hyundai, at Crestview Lane and Vicari Drive. 

The driver of the vehicle that left the scene was Angel Llorens, 53, of 1600 Goldspire Road in the Greenbriar Woodlands retirement community. 

Officer Schwartz arrested Llorens, after being treated at Community Medical Center, for driving while intoxicated along with other unnamed motor vehicle offenses.
