Is there nothing this town won't do to these poor people? Why is this a problem now? The storm was a month ago. Why applications? Why not let an licensed electrician provide a letter verifying the electrical system is safe? How long will a homeowner now have to wait to get the electric co. put the meter back in?

Now they figured this out? Seriously? Where were the inspectors for the past month? Every day it is another rule - and - never any significant progress. Garbage still on streets, no real plan on when electricity will be restored, communication stinks, and dunes are slowly being created. The leadership in Toms River is pathetic. Brick seems to have it together. There are no excuses at this point - we need better planning and communication. Why not set up a mobile command station on barrier island (maybe Lavallette since they have power and CABLE TV) instead of making people go to TR for permits. And, if we have to pay for permits, so be it. I just want to be treated better. In my opinion, not much is happening on the barrier island lately and time is wasting. Dead of winter will be upon us shortly providing another excuse for the TR politicians for not getting things done.

NJ Natural Gas is doing great job - but JCP&L is terrible. There is no information on what is going on for barrier island on their website-in fact it is impossible to find any information about recovery from hurricane Sandy anywhere on there website. Why? Tried calling them on Tuesday. never spoke to a person and was disconnected by machines 2Xs. Still waiting for call back. They should not be allowed to operate with such unprofessionalism. JCP&L is totally dropping the ball.

so sick of this crap. elderly in laws trying to get permit for ss hts to work on their home, or what was their home, and told they cant. sick of making phone calls and no answers. wake up politicians and help these people for crying out loud!!!!

Lavallette has there own electric, sewage, water and cable generated in their own boro...that boro is self run.

T R is charging all permit fees. I believe they are out of control and everyone should go yo the council meetings and make a stink. This mayor and council needs a wakeup call soon.

Safety precautions were taken to insure that damaged structures were not energized. After inspection by licensed contractors, homes are being energized internally at a rate of approximately 50-75 per day."

There are clearly leaders in the respective communities that are working tirelessly for their citizens.

No one could have estimated the damage that has been done, but now that it is done Toms River Township has to work to make things right. Unfortunately, Toms River is governed by an bunch of attorneys ( George Gilmore, et al) that don't give a dam about the people, only their friends and their own interests. All due respect to Mayor Kehaler, but he's way in over his head dealing with these issues. The fact the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management is run by Sheriff Polhemus, is a complete joke. And anyone that doesn't think that the Gilmore crew is not scheming on how to make more money off of all the people that have suffered through this ordeal is naive. A tiger doesnt change it's stripes. But then again these guys have been elected and re-elected every few years. So it's hard to blame anyone but ourselves for the way we are treated.

Toms River and Seaside Heights need a public advocate to step in to this mess. I would like some assurance that they are working in the interest of the property owners. If they need more help then they need to get it.

It is a good idea to pull the meters and make sure the houses are safe. To charge a fee for the form is, to say the lest a bad idea. The form should be free and home owenrt should be able to down load it from TR web site. The electrical contractor who inspects the house is going to charge us for this service. That is fee enough! The form signed by the electrical contractor with his license # on it should be proof that the house is ready for the meter and electric service. Let's not have us pay twice for the same service.

Why doesnt "restore the shore" or one of the many so called "sandy relief" charity organizations chip in for permit fees and any other nickel and dime fees we are going to get whacked with? They are all a joke!

A good bit heavy handed to charge for permits when other towns are waiving the fees. Toms River's leadership needs a lesson in public relations.
