Fall Festival, Poker Run Returns to Silverton Firehouse Saturday

Event features wide variety of fun, from fall activities to fire demos

 

One of the larger seasonal festivals in Toms River will again feature a day of fun, community education and fall activities this Saturday at Silverton's Fall Festival.

Silverton Fire Company, at its Station 29 on Kettle Creek, will host the day-long event.

Free and open to the public, the fun starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. 

Fire truck demostrations and presentations, including some of the vintage pieces at the station, will take place throughout the day.

A pumpkin patch and pony rides, and even fire truck rides, will be available. Firefighters will complete vehicle extrication and help explain both rescue and fire prevention.

Numerous community associations and businesses participate and help sponsor the event, which also features food and drink for sale and live bands throughout.

A motorcycle and classic car display is planned, and in addition the day is also the annual fall poker run at the firehouse.

The Silverton Fire Company's 2012 Harley-Davidson raffle, for a FLHX Street Glide will be drawn at the company's fall festival and poker run.

Traffic slowdowns on Kettle Creek Road from Hooper Avenue to Larch Drive.
Larch Drive is closed from Kettle Creek Road to Oak Hill Drive today, 8am till 7pm.
