Toms River police responded to a fire behind a residence on Bay Stream Drive Sunday morning.
An investigation found that a dock behind the residence was on fire.
The fire was apparently ignited by fireworks, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.
The fire was extinguished by The Silverton Fire Company.
The homeowner, who reported some friends had set off fireworks earlier in the evening, was issued a citation for illegal fireworks, Mastronardy said.
Officer Ken Thomas and Jason Putkowski were the responding officers.

They should just legalize these fireworks already. It can become a nice tax stream for the state.
Besides.. its not the fireworks fault, just the dummy that points them at a house or holds it too long.

Do you know what noise pollution is, or perhaps you like people to lose fingers and eyes?

I have been hearing fireworks all summer, from the direction of the Guilford Park Yacht Club. Sometimes at 11 o'clock at night. Why are they allowed? Do the police patrol here? No, they go to the yacht club and drink when they get off duty.
