Flooding Continues to Plague Toms River After Day of Heavy Rain

Silverton basements flood, while multiple lanes of Coolidge and Fischer closed for flooding

A day of heavy rain continued flooding conditions in Toms River as a second set of storms drenched the area, closing portions of major roads and destroying a house.

Silverton Fire Chief Bob Sinnott said multiple emergency responders were called to a Darren Place home after the enormous amount of rain so flooded the soil it cracked a basement wall to the home.

A 20-foot section of the wall cracked, sending mud and soil into the home, which building inspectors condemned, Sinnott said.

Elsewhere, Hooper Avenue southbound between South Shore Drive and Fischer Boulevard was down to one lane due to flooding, around 3:30 p.m.

This afternoon on Coolidge near Adams avenues, previous flooding from this morning returned with the additional rain. Flooding was also creating hazardous conditions near Adams and Fischer Boulevard.

Sinnott said that the township had 20 incidents in the last 24 hours, with flooding conditions continuing through 4:45 p.m.

My basement flooded too, TG for sum pumps or it'd been a lot higher but we just demo'd the basement for mold and got fiberglass aka mold resistent walls but skipped the $8000 carpet with rubber bottoms bc it hadn't flooded in years since we got the sum pump. So the one non mold resistent part the carpet is soaked despite pumping a bunch out, now just using fans and demidifiers trying to dry out the padding then carpet. What a mess.

I'm glad that I saw the light, early (August), as I'm down, here, in SUNNY, SUNNY, SUNNY St. Petersburg, Florida. I think God (The Invisible White Man in the Sky) is angry with WOBM'S Bob Levy, for the things that he says on the radio on Sunday mornings. See 'ya all in the spring, I hope you don't get too much snow, this winter!

Hey Rob, this is a discussion about the terrible things going on in the state of New Jersey, not where political statements need to be made. I'm sure there's plenty of websites out there where she can spew all the crap she wants. Why here?
