Four Armed Men Rob 19 Year-Old at Home

Incident was 10 p.m. Sunday in Dover Pines

Four men with handguns forced their way into a Dover Pines home Sunday night to rob one of the occupants of money and then fled on foot, police said.

Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said the resident, a 19 year-old man, was downstairs in his Toby Court home playing video games with four friends, when four men broke in through the front door.

The suspects — three black males and one white male — rushed downstairs in the bi-level home and demanded the victim's wallet, Mastronardy said.

They fled with the wallet, which contained $70 in cash, said the police chief.

Nothing else was stolen, he said. One other occupant was in the upstairs at the time. The police chief said the break-in involved minimal damage to the front door. No injuries were reported.

Mastronardy said the suspects were wearing dark clothing and red bandanas. No other description was available.

Mastronardy said the investigation is ongoing.

Toms River Police Sergeant Ralph Stocco, Officers Scot Duncan, Jason Stallworth and Detective Louis Santora are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call police headquarters at 732-349-0150.

Replay the same exact scenerio 2 months ago to the teen on Cardinal Drive in the Oakridge Section of Toms River. Why buy it when they can just steal it.

it's a tough world out there, stay or move back with your parents.

And yet, they still won't allow us to have guns here. It's safer in El Paso than here. Why? Because people are allowed to defend themselves.

I can tell you this, my family does not ever break the law, but I can tell you this, we are packing, meaning let them try to break into my home, my k-9's will have a party on them, and we maybe we will shoot them, this is no way to live, and we refuse to live in fear, the times have changed so much, I think some people should be able to keep a gun at home, you see they are forcing they way in, I'm very surprise no one got hurt, and thankful the kids at home didn't get hurt, but this is happening once to many.. what ever drug they are using is making them do crazy things.. if they have the balls to break in our homes while we are home, then we should have the right to shoot them. how do we know they won't kill us.. they are killing cops left and right.. I'm not taking that chance...you break in your a dead man, why do I have to wonder if they are going to kill my family.. I'm not going to wonder once they break in my home.. they are gona wonder what's on the other side of that door.. you better keep I.D so your next of kin can idenfi you. end of story

@constance savino - What makes you think any kind of drug is involved? A thug is a thug and drugs may have nothing to do with it. I also hope you are conscious of the law in NJ regarding guns, dogs and protecting your home because your reply comes off as over emotional and irrational on how you'd handle such a situation.

BUT- I agree with you to a point. We should be able to defend ourselves outside our home as well. Defending ourselves inside the home is possible but it's tricky. We must allow them to rob us as long as they're not hurting us and we have to shout out that we have a gun and are afraid before protecting ourselves. RIDICULOUS. And it's ridiculous just having to say that 'out loud'!

We have a right to carry and protect ourselves anywhere. NJ just likes the power of controlling the people and allowing thugs to ruin lives while the victim sits and waits for police, sometimes for a very long time.

Did you know if some thug enters your home to rob you, hurts himself/herself in the process you are liable for their injuries? Are you kidding me?!

Why don't more people SPEAK for our right to protect ourselves? I'll tell you - it's work and people in general are lazy. When the romance of their cause dies down and it starts to look like it's going to take longer than a phone call to change, they punk out and give in to the tyranny.

Securevelope, I hear what your saying, but what other reason why they would rob you.. to go on a vacation. or buy a new pear of jeans.. It really doesn't matter why they are breaking in while we are home these home invadtions, but do you think I'm just going to sit there while they have a gun to my son's head, and think to myself well if I shoot, I may get in trouble, lol thats funny.. do you think I will let these scumbags choose for me.. I'm not willing to chance my family getting killed for me getting in trouble for protecting myself and my family.. the point is, you just don't know what will happen if they force their way in while we are home.. most of the time they will kill you.. A family was just murdered out of state from a home invadtion, I think it was down south somewhere.. a week or 2 ago.. my point is God for bid that happen to me.. do you think Im just going to sit there and choose my family's life or me getting into trouble for protecting ourselves, I don't think so.. and how can I not get upset over this.. my family is priceless. my dog's too.. When I read this incident your darn right I was emotional and irrational thinking what these poor kids must of felt, and their parents.. the point is that's the chance I'm willing to take... my family or them.. that's an easy one for me.. p.s my son is a police officer ;)))

Constance, I did not say you shouldn't defend yourself. You misunderstand. What I said is you sound ignorant of the laws for legal gun holders in this state. Ridiculous as they are, while you would be right in defending your family, the law is on the side of the thug who you shot. Sad but true.

And yes, low lifes of low intelligence and a lazy attitude don't need drugs to commit crimes. That's not to say there are never any crimes where the thugs are doped up on something, but there are just as many robberies where drugs are not involved. When the economy is tight, like it is now, people will steal for money to survive, food, clothing, anything. It doesn't make it right, it is what it is.

The law regarding gun ownership in NJ is flat out stupid. Your son being a cop has no control or influence over that unless you are using his service revolver to defend yourself and I am pretty sure that is not legal. If it is, I'd be surprised. The whole point in a break in is to terrorize and putting the homeowner/occupant in a position where they have to go through a mess of ridiculous steps before taking action is plain DUMB. When someone is terrified, they don't often think rationally as expected by law. Someone didn't think of that when they devised this stranglehold on us.

Again, I'm not against your opinion, it's just the way you express it.

Constance - @ your PS-
I dont' know. I'm just pointing out that the laws are not on your side as a victim. Every situation is different and everyone responds differently.

I honestly don't care what side of the law's are for the thugs or me.. if you break in my house be prepared to die.. that's my law.. like they are breaking the law then so am I..their's not even a question.. for me.. I don't care.. . call me what you want.. I'm a mother..if that makes me a animal for loving and caring then that's what I am..

no I'm not igorant regarding the laws of owning a guns. times are tough for me too, I lost my job over a year ago and Im force to sell my house at this time.. I know the laws very well. I'm in the same boat as them if that's the case of them losing their jobs and needing to eat and so on.. I know times are bad for a lot of people.. is their a nice way to express my self when I hear such news like this.. it makes me angry the fear they put this poor family through. I'm friends with kelly her fiance was the police officer who got shot last year in lakewood, knowing that and this incident makes me pissed off because this poor girl is in pain everyday of her life, that is no way to live.. that is why I'm thinking unrationally ...if you want to call it that.. they just murdered another lady police officer in little egg harbor.. if they are killing cops they will kill us that's my point Im not willing to chance. I'll cross that bridge if it comes..God for bid.. end of story

p.s knowing the laws doesn't change my mind either.. because if I'm in that situation lets say.. and they have a gun to my sons head. I"m not going to stop and think which is more important to me.. getting in trouble for shooting them, or living my life in hell because I just witness my children getting their head blowen off.. in my opinion their isn't really any Rational way to handle this situration, either way it's both wrong.. I rather be wrong then to see my children dead. does that make sense..they need to bring the electric chair back and maybe they will think twice before they shoot someone..one to many cops got murder last year and this year already..one too many for me..

What's wrong with you, constance? No one is accusing you of anything nor calling you any names. No one is saying you shouldn't protect your family.
And I'll avoid anyone named Savino from here on out, just in case it's you. You seem to think this is the wild west and you can make up your own rules. I don't trust you and your wild emotions not to have an itchy trigger if I happen to have the need to ring your doorbell one day and wind up dead because you're paranoid.

You can't seem to grasp the whole of my replies in that all I keep doing is pointing out how it's a sad situation that the victim has less protection than the thugs around here. You keep missing that. And I fully take blame for allowing myself to be roped into this conversation with you. I usually avoid circular conversations with crazy people. I'm sorry for your lack of understanding. Carry on.

securevelope - your points are valid and you are right.
the lady your argueing with thinks she will be okay when someone breaks in, until the police come and she is going to jail. whether someone breaks in or not, you will get screwed.

Jessica - exactly the only point I keep trying to make.

Maybe Constance should use her son's position as a cop for good - get a campaign going with policemen and women backing up the need to change NJ gun laws and allow people to protect themselves, inside AND outside their homes. It's our RIGHT as Americans and the thugs should not have the law on their side.

The problem is no one wants to bother - people in general have an attitude of "someone else will 'do it'". When working for a change and the romance wears off, it starts to look like work and people want things easy.

NJ gun law is the complete opposite from our country's "innocent until proven guilty" mantra. Here if you protect yourself, you are guilty and have to prove what you did was justified. Very, very sad.

lol, Securevelope, your funny, I never said you were accusing me of anything, and I'm not from the wild west, my family is from Italy, ooh ooh, and I don't make up my own rules, I respect the law, follow the law, I don't text and drive. I don't drink and drive, we don't steal, we are God fearing people, we are hard worker's , we never took a sick day at work, even if we are sick still went to work and we always do the right thing, my husband will not even have a drink if he has to drive and not all Itatian people are mobster's either, so that comment was uncalled for..lucky for you I don't take name calling personal, you have your right to your opinion and I respect that.. you are the one who responded to my comment.. and everything you said is right.. regarding keeping a gun and using it.. and I know shooting a gun is against the law, I know all that.. but I will repeat, if some thug breaks my window and trys to enter.. I have 2 doors, and if they break that to try to enter, that is the only way that gun will come out.. you can ring my door bell as long you enter the right way.. but call first.. ahhaha. first of all my dogs hear the slightest noise they are barking up a storm.. and by that time I will have the police here I hope.

and can you please answer my question.. knowing all the rules of the state we live in..
you are sitting home with your family having dinner lets say, your wife and kids. and all of a sudden these thugs force their way into your home and have a gun to your wife and kids head,, and by chance you have a gun hidden by you.. and you are able to take that gun knowing you can get into trouble by shooting or would you shoot them knowing your family may get killed for a 20.00 bill. because who has that kind of money laying around.. because now a days everything is direct deposit. and what ever jewels we have is in a saftey deposit box..at the bank if you were in that situation what would you do. your family or them.. I'm dying to know your answer..

Why would you put yourself out there like this on the internet? I stand by my comments. You need to take a chill pill. I just hope you're more controlled with a gun in your hand than you are behind a keyboard.

That my friend, is an unanswerable question. No one knows what they would do in such a situation. One can only dream of what they would like to do, but actually being in such a situation brings different results. You can verify this with your son.
