Brick police officers found 411 bags of heroin in a vehicle they stopped over the weekend, leading to the arrest of an Atlantic City man.

They later captured the man's brother, who was wanted by Toms River police.

Officers stopped a silver Chevy Impala being driven by Hasan Singleton, 35, on Chambers Bridge Road Saturday afternoon around 4:10 p.m. According to Capt. John Rein, Singleton was observed leaving a Second Street residence known to be frequented by a man wanted by Toms River Police regarding an incident involving a handgun.

After stopping the vehicle, officers found 411 bags of heroin and $3,700 in cash, Rein said.

Singleton, who is the brother of the man that was being sought by Toms River police, was placed under arrest and transported to Brick Police Headquarters.

A short time later, Rein said, another vehicle leaving the same residence was stopped by police near Jack Martin Boulevard. That vehicle was occupied by two men, including Hakim Singleton, 34, also of Atlantic City, who was wanted in Toms River.

In addition to being wanted by Toms River police, Hakim Singleton had an outstanding warrant out of Atlantic City, Rein said.

Hakim Singleton was placed under arrest and transported to Brick Police Headquarters, then transferred to Toms River police. Brick police seized $4,000 in cash they found on Hakim Singleton pending an ongoing investigation.

Hakin Singleton was eventually sent to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to jail records.

Hasan Singleton was charged with the manufacturing, dispensing or distribution of herion, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail set by Brick Municipal Court Judge Robert LePore.
