JCP&L Announces Power Restoration in Two Ortley Beach Sections
East section of Ortley Beach still remains without electricity
JCP&L announced that two of the three sections of Ortley beach have been energized and certain customers there now have power.
"Ortley Beach (Middle and West) sections have been energized. Customers that had their meter reset now have service," reads an advisory notice sent through email and text message by the Toms River officials Tuesday morning. "We will continue to reset meters as inspections are received."
All areas of the barrier island except for portions of Mantoloking and the Ortley east section are energized, according to JCP&L. The utility has posted instructions for having service restored after Sandy on its website.
Though many on the barrier island were allowed to return to their homes full time Monday, those living in Ortley cannot yet, as officials have cited the necessary utility and road repairs have not been completed.

The only thing holding us from our street is the police barricade. It's unfortunate that some roads have not yet been repaired and that should be an immediate priority. However, those of us who do have access should have full time use of our houses!! Full time residents are displaced needlessly and home restoration is being foolishly delayed due to restricted Ortley access. This needs to be addressed ASAP !!

Toms River has been less than helpful to full time Ortley Beach residents. We now need an inspection from township to restore electricity which JCPL states is available, however there closest date for inspection by TR was Feb 9th. As usual TR again holds up the property owners. Wouldn't it make sense to do the year round residents first.

No such thing, it's a 2nd house. Most of us full-timers owned before living permanently, primary residents should have been given priority

Gas service is on for many portions of Ortley Beach, if the gas lines are OK in your area. Look for a tag on your meter. If there, have a plumber certify that it is save to re-connect from the meter to your house. If you have no tag or no gas meter, call the gas company to get status of service restoration.

ALLSTATE INSURANCE COMPANY will not provide sufficient funds in order to rebuild homes to what they were before Sandy to those of us who are part-time residents. I paid my flood insurance premiums in full and was never made aware of this. Is there any way any one can help. I had planned to move here permanently but now I cannot.
