MTV To Hold Fundraiser for Seaside Heights
'Restore the Shore' to air at 11 p.m.
Dozens of stars, artists and organizations will participate tonight in a one-hour MTV-driven fundraising special to help rebuild Seaside Heights, according to an MTV spokesperson.
The event is scheduled to air live at 11 p.m. on MTV, MTV.com, MTV mobile and MTV radio.
The effort is part of MTV’s campaign 'Restore the Shore.'
From 4 pm until midnight, the cast of MTV’s "Jersey Shore" – as well as stars from other top MTV shows including “Awkward,” “Teen Wolf,” “Teen Mom,” “The Challenge,” and “The Real World” – will be live in MTV’s Times Square studio, calling donors to thank them for giving.
Unlike a conventional telethon where viewers call in and hope to speak with a celebrity, MTV’s “Restore the Shore” will feature stars personally calling individuals who donate via Indiegogo at RestoretheShore.MTV.com or make a $10 donation by texting SHORE to 85944.
All funds raised will go to Architecture for Humanity, an international non-profit that led rebuilding efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, according to a MTV spokesperson.
"They are now setting out to help rebuild the famed boardwalk, local businesses and homes in Seaside Heights ravaged by the storm," a MTV spokesperson said.
“Restore the Shore” will feature live performances from Gym Class Heroes (with special guest Oh Land) performing the comeback anthem “The Fighter,” as well as “American Idol” Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips performing his hit “Home.”
Everyone who donates $25 or more will receive an exclusive MTV “Restore the Shore” song bundle, which includes 30 songs from the past six seasons of “Jersey Shore.”
Online crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.com has created a special campaign donation page RestoretheShore.Indiegogo.com for MTV’s “Restore the Shore,” and in conjunction with PayPal.com, will be waiving 100% of the fees on all donations.
The MTV Shop, as well as select Modell’s locations in NY, NJ, PA and DE and modells.com, will be selling the official MTV “Restore the Shore” t-shirt for $20, with all net proceeds going to Architecture for Humanity’s Seaside rebuilding fund.
In addition, Viacom, MTV's parent company, will donate $100,000 to Architecture for Humanity in support of the "Restore the Shore" fund, as part of its $1 million Viacommunity pledge to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
"Seaside Heights needs our support," said Cameron Sinclair, executive director of Architecture for Humanity. "Without the economic lifeline of the boardwalk, local families will be without work and forced to decide whether they should return. By building back better we can create a more resilient community for generations to come."

Just because these people were on a show that filmed in seaside does not mean they HAVE to fundraise for the rebuilding effort. Did every celebrity who has ever shot a movie or show in New Orleans help those people after Katrina...I doubt it. I think its great that they're doing this. I'm not a fan of any of them, but really it is good that they are pitching in.

The only area not accessible by residents as of today, are parts of Ortley Beach and Mantaloking. Some parts of Ortley will finally be allowed to view their homes and get personal belongings for the first time tomorrow. Sad. Seaside park has begun demo, etc. Seaside Hts also. I am pretty sure he same applies to Pelican Is.

What does this mean? Fundraiser for Seaside? Who is getting the money? Where is all the money going? Who is it actually helping? All these fundraiser's....who is it actually helping? I don't know, but after Katrina..so many concerts, fundraisers and it really did not go to the people who actually needed the money. I am a little "Leary" because it never get to the people that need it the most.
