Nominate Your Favorite Pizza Places

Tell us your local favorites so we can include them in our Readers’ Choice 2012 poll.

Where can you find the best pizza in town?

Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and anyone else who knows pizza to nominate the best spots in town.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included. We may not be able to add all businesses to our poll and we want to make sure our readers' favorites make the cut.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

The yardstick to measure good pizza is Pete & Elda's, in Neptune City, NJ. Toms River does NOT have ANYTHING remotely close to their high standards. I'm going to pass on this particular category.

Pete & Elda's is right at the top...ever so slightly behind Vic's in Bradley Beach.

NY Water Bagel on Fischer is now making pizza. Nothing compared to Pete & Elda's but for the slim pickin's in Toms River a well done plain was good. New place Brimstone on have not tried it yet.

My vote is for Luigis on Rt 9,between Church Rd and Sunset. The upside down Grandma is the best.

Watch out for luigis..they use your phone number to track your order history and then play games with pricing. Next time you to in notice no pricing on the wall posted. That's because they make it up as they go along.

Pete & Elda's hands down. Locally Klee's is my favorite.

"I have been to Pete & Elda's and was not impressed."

- NO NAME.

Well, NO NAME, you have certainly told me enough about yourself to prove that you were never AT Pete & Elda's then! Jeez, are some people SO bored that they feel the need to join a chat room, and NOT leave a legitimate, given name? What's up with that??

Pete and Eldas is a joke. A 1 hour wait for pizza that tastes like the crust was made out of Saltine Crackers is not my idea of worth the money.

I've had pizzas from both Vinny's and The Peppermill. It's the same, old story: Consistency. Sometimes, they're good, and sometimes they're pretty lousy.. I call pizza in Ocean County, Mom and Pop pie. Up in Monmouth County, you have Pete & Elda's, Vic's, Mom's Kitchen, Squan Tavern and Federici's. Even on a so-so day, Monmouth County pizza is better than ANYPLACE in Ocean County, on a good day.

Pete and Eldas is good, just can't have that taste more than a couple of times a year.

For me it's a toss up between Denino's (Brick) and Pete & Elda's ... two completely different styles of pies and both delicious in their own way.

Hmm ... now I'm craving pizza

If you are talking Toms River I would say Schianos on Lakehurst Road. But is seems people are nominating not just places in oter towns from Ocean County, but from Monmouth county as well. So is this just for Toms River pizza or not?

Used to go to Giampapa's years ago when they were on Fischer Blvd. I stopped going after I went to pick up 4 pies and dropped two trying to get out of the front door. They quickly made two more pizza's for the one's I dropped and charged me full price for both, Really??? ... You can't help with the door AND ... you can't at a minimum REDUCE the price of two replacements? Never went back.

"So is this just for Toms River pizza, or not?"

- Ken.

That's why I elected to pass on this particular category of food, Ken. Toms River is NOT the Pizza Capitol of the World!! I've had a pizza from EVERY one of the stores mentioned on this thread, and NOT ONE comes even close to a Pete & Elda's pie.

Pete & Eldas is like eating a cracker, if that's what you want go for it. Vic's is my style or Klee's, if you like thin crust, none in TR is any good so far !

Francolli's on Fischer Blvd (across from Spirits) makes a pretty good thin crust pizza. Can't compete with P&E's or Vic's ... but good nonetheless.

"If you like thin crust {pizza}}, none in TR is any good so far!"

- 1stcav.

Yeah, and ain't that a shame? Maruca's, 3 Brothers From Italy and The Sawmill are pretty good, but I ain't putting-up with the nonsense, over there, in Seaside, to satisfy an urge for a slice of tomato pie. By the way, THAT'S what we used to call pizza when I was a kid, tomato pie. So, WHAT do I do? I get a pie from Papa John's, at the corner of Hooper Avenue and Route 37, THAT'S what I do! Sure, it's generic, but WHAT are you gonna' do? Go to Seaside, and put-up with Snooki, J-WOWW and The Situation? NO WAY, Jose! I'll either go to Papa John's, or do without!

I agree about all the places you mentioned in easide, but I also agree with you about not wanting to go there and putting up with the "Jersey Shore" people and the fools who follow them.

The Real Pizza in Toms River is excellent, if you like thin crust you should give them a try. I always ask them to leave mine in a bit extra so it's nice and crispy.

Okay, I was thinking about this Toms River/Ocean County pizza "thing," last night, as I was just drifing off to sleep. A few, cool Miller Lites certainly aided my thoughts, and WHAM! It hit me! The Anchor Inn, in beautiful, downtown Ocean Gate!! About fifteen years ago, Don Wilno, writing in his Asbury Park Press "Watering Hole" column, brought it to my attention. He gave it Four Pretzels, which was his top rating. So, I ventured down there, and I was hooked! I've been to The Anchor Inn, many times since. There, I'd like to place into nomination The Anchor Inn, of Ocean Gate, New Jersey!!
