Police Blotter: Senior's Purse Snatched by Two Lacey Men

Both men were held at the Ocean County Jail on $75,000 bail

Two Lacey men were arrested on a $75,000 warrant issued by the Toms River Police Department related to robbery.

Michael Visinski, 26, was arrested when the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a residence on Maple Road in Lanoka Harbor at 11:56 p.m. Nov. 3.

Toms River police arrested Visinski along with Michael Sandella, 24, of Oak Hill Court in Lanoka Harbor after an investigation into a robbery and theft that occurred at 3:30 p.m. that afternoon at Sears in the Ocean County Mall.

An 84-year-old Barnegat woman was in the parking lot when her purse was removed from her arm and the suspect ran across Hooper Avenue. A witness, who observed a male in Bed, Bath and Beyond with a gold purse, notified the police.

The victim’s cellular phone and garage door opener were located in the public restroom in the toilet and her pocketbook minus $50 in cash was located a short time later on Lowell Avenue in Toms River.

Both men were held at the Ocean County Jail on $75,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

Sears Loss Prevention officers also assisted.

it's not for the holidays as you would like to so " innocently " think . it's so all these kids and adults can get money for their heroine addiction . i can't believe people are so blind that they can't see half of our town is filled with these saps . every where i look i see someone all doped out . it's like an epidemic .

Eggy: Seaside Heights has been selected as a prescription drug drop off town...right across the bridge. Open your eyes.

They did a drop off prescription drug thing (recently) at Toms River and Lacey too. They eventually do it in many towns. My eyes are opened- and seeing clearly. I'm not blinded by panic and fear. Drugs have been around forever, both legal and illegal. I'm not saying they are not a problem - for many people. But a panic-worthy issue for us all? No. I tend towards the more rational, thanks. "Half the population" of TR is NOT on heroin. Every crime committed is NOT committed by crazed crack-heads and drug abusers. The war on drugs has failed and failed miserably. It's a money wasting dinosaur of a program. Open YOUR eyes and stop living in a black and white, good and evil world; there are many shades of gray and many reasons for crimes.

I agree, I've never lived anywhere this problem was so pervasive. My daughter had to stop hanging out with many of her friends and make some new ones as they all started smoking pot. This started at twelve or thirteen.sad.

Rachel, back in the late 60's early 70's, (when I was 14, 15, etc) everyone smoked pot, and many did plenty of other drugs as well. And I mean *EVERYONE* smoked pot. Even many parents back then (not mine) experimented with drugs, smoked pot (regularly), and nearly all our parents drank plenty -- Plenty! -- of alcohol and took prescription drugs like candy. (Remember Valley of the Dolls?) Guess what? The world kept turning, and most of us grew up and went to college, had families, etc.

This is not "new". This is not something only "kids today..." are doing. Drug *use* should not be criminalized. Drug *addiction* should be treated as a disease, not a crime. The money spent on the War on Drugs would be better spent in addiction programs instead. That's My Opinion. There has always been crime, there has always been drugs - since the beginning of all societies. However, drugs are not the ONLY reason for crimes... it's simplistic to believe so.
