The book, entitled "Toms River: A Story of Science and Salvation," is the true story of how industrial pollution ravaged the town. An excerpt has been posted to The Huffington Post ahead of its March 19 release

Author Dan Fagin is an associate professor of journalism and the director of the Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting Program at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
