Rear-End Crash at Route 37 and Washington Street Results in Minor Injuries
Three minor injuries reported in accident early this afternoon
A rear-end automobile collision just after 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, at the intersection of Route 37 and Washington Street in Toms River resulted in three people injured at the scene, according to the Toms River Township Police Department.
“This was a three-car, rear-end accident which resulted in minor injuries,” said Patrol Sergeant Keith Diehl of the Toms River Police.
Diehl stated that a 31 year-old female resident from Toms River was reaching for a dropped cigarette lighter in her vehicle, when she rear-ended the vehicle traveling in front of her, which in turn, hit the vehicle that was traveling in front of it as well.
“There were three minor injuries at the scene,” said Diehl. “One of the other drivers was a 45 year-old female from Canada, who had two passengers with her reporting neck pain, and they were then transported to Community Medical Center. The other driver, a 22 year-old female from Philadelphia, sustained a bump on the head, but refused medical treatment at the scene.”
Diehl said that the scene was cleared within 30 minutes of the accident being reported.

Reaching for a dropped cigarette lighter while she was driving. Unbelievable! Well, not really. She fits right in with the rest of the morons that have more important things to do than focusing their attention on their driving.

She just had to light that cigarette. She couldn't wait until she could pull over to get it. Well, her stupidity and carelessness caused her to pull over for a different reason.
Lucky she didn't kill someone.

Nice to be perfect, huh? You've never taken your eyes off the road while driving? Ever??? Yes you have. You're lucky you didn't cause an accident. You're not smarter, you're not any less careless, no less of a "moron".you were lucky. Don't be so mean. It could have been you too.

No that couldn't have been me because I don't smoke. If I did, and dropped my lighter, I would have pulled off the road to a safe area and retrieved it. And you're telling me I'm not any less careless? How do you know how I drive? You're making accusations based on assumptions. Don't assume...

Point is; not everyone keeps their eyes on the road at all times; it is IMPOSSIBLE to do so; those who haven't had an accident because of it; are just plain lucky. So you don't smoke well; bully for you! Reaching to change the radio station; answering a cell phone; eating; reading a newspaper; shaving; putting on make-up and many other stupid things could end in the same result.

I have been driving for forty years and never caused an accident, never hit anyone. I am careful and intelligent enough too never smoke, eat, answer the cellphone, and on and on tho the thousand excuses people use to avoid irresponsibility Calll me perfect and arrogant, I love it. But if you can't handle the responsibility of driving a car, get out and walk.

Smot Revir, You DON'T know anything about me and your statement about a wedding up north proved that because I've never attended anything up north, wedding or otherwise, and I don't drink. So before you start shooting your mouth off, make sure you have the right person.

Smot Revir, You're dead wrong, but I can see that you won't be convinced of that so go ahead and think what you want. I know who I am, where I've been and what I've done, and my conscience is clear, and that's all that really matters. I'm outta here! Bye!

Thankfully, was jusrt a minor accident, but could have been worse. I am a smoker and if i dropped my lighter would never attempt to pick it up. People need to pay more attention on the road!
