The Roy Rogers chain of fast food restaurants is still looking to open a location at the former Denny's building on the border of Toms River and Brick.
For years, Denny's was located at the corner of Brick Boulevard and Molly Lane in Brick. It closed last summer.
Roy Rogers currently operates one other location in Ocean County – on Route 9 in Pine Beach – and has been slated to come before Brick township's planning board on several occasions as the approval process has moved on. The restaurant chain is scheduled to come before the board Wednesday, June 27 for another hearing, said Brick Township Planner Mike Fowler.
Fowler said unless any additional issues come up between now and next week, a vote is expected on the restaurant's application then.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. next Wednesday at the Brick township municipal complex.

We used to have one on Rt 37 right off of Fischer. I don't know why it ever closed. There is nothing on that end in the way of fast food.

I don't recall one near Fischer but more recently a Roy Rogers shuttered and became Boston Market at Route 37 and Hooper.

The building is now rehab, right near the Shell station. Used to go there all of the time.

Here's a neat story reminiscing about those shuttered Roy Rogers and more: The Long Gone Burgers of Ground Round, Fuddruckers and Roy Rogers - Toms River, http://patch.com/A-fzQR
