Just Chillin': Seaside Heights Polar Bear Plunge 2012
Nearly 6,000 people participated in the plunge to benefit the Special Olympics of New Jersey
They came from West Windsor and West New York, Ocean County and Ocean Township. They came from as near as Seaside Heights and as far as Texas.
With water temperatures hovering right around 40 degrees and a strong wind blowing mist off the waves, nearly 6,000 plungers took turns dashing into the surf in Seaside Heights on Saturday.
Their willingness to get wet and cold resulted in donations of more than $1.4 million to benefit the Special Olympics of New Jersey thanks to this year's Polar Bear Plunge.
