Second Armed Robbery Incident of Pizza Delivery Man

Suspect, armed with knife, made off with $100

A second incident of a pizza delivery man being held up was reported Friday night in Toms River, police said.

At 9 p.m. Friday police responded to a robbery on Periwinkle Street in Silverton. An 18-year-old Toms River man was delivering pizza for a Silverton pizza parlor when he was approached by a white male, six-feet tall wearing dark clothing and a black ski mask, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

The suspect, armed with a knife, demanded money and took more than $100 cash from the victim. The home the victim was delivering to was vacant and the suspect, after taking the proceeds, fled into the woods.

The victim was not injuried and the robbery is being investigated by Officer Frank Morscella and Detective Louis Santora and Brian Lomer.

An earlier incident involving a pizza delivery man involved two suspects with guns.

either make the people ordering pizza pay by card over the phone before its delivered and the driver carry's NO CASH or stop delivering, too risky, for a pizza?

I agree,if you don't know the customer and has ordered before then the risk is small if its a new customer, get a credit card payment,These pizza delivery people shouldn't be put in that much danger for sometimes a very small tip if a tip at all.

One pizzeria that I used to order from, had a caller ID service that included the addresses of regular customers. Something has to be done. These kids don't need to be put at risk while they are trying to earn a few dollars.

Obviously it was a setup house was vacant. Many people ordering pizza don't have credit cards or wish to give that information. But I agree if new customer than limit the amount ordered or insist on credit card. I was very angry I gave my card info to order pet meds from vet when I didn't get email verification nor products next day I called. Seems someone put my info for all to see and use on a post it and forgot to order it. Had to cancel card get another, big hassle for someone stuck in house sick.

My son was the one robbed and he's pretty shaken up. He's a good kid who was just out there working hard and making some money for himself. He never thought his life would be in danger delivering pizzas in Toms River. Not a call you want to get from your kid at night. Just really happy it turned out like it did and he wasn't hurt or worse.Gonna take a little while to get over this

When I was 15 worked at Wendy's they went over what to do in case of robbery. They told us never tell where safe was or manager was only one with Key. Yeah right I'd be like there is the safe he has key I'm leaving now...one day manager left for personal business, something that is never to happen manager can't ever leave w/o another manager take place. I called corporate so fast and reported him. He didn't leave key and no way was I going to die for Wendy's money. I called and left.

Another incident and once again the guy will not get caught. Other scum are noticing how easy it is to get away with crime in this town.
