Toms River Man Faces Gun, Drug Charges
Prosecutors say they charged a 50-year-old man after raiding his home and a self-storage unit.
Toms River Police and detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office arrested a 50-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm and a variety of drug charges, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said today.
Police arrested Eugene McCray of 540 West Earl Court in Toms River after a Dec. 14 raid on his home and a storage unit at E.Z. Storage on New Hampshire Ave. in Lakewood, N.J., prosecutors said in a statement.
As a result of the search warrants, police seized approximately 150 bags of heroin, a quantity of alprazolam (anti-anxiety drug) and oxycodone (narcotic) pills, a loaded .380 caliber handgun along with approximately $4900 dollars in cash. Police also seized a digital scale and packaging materials, as well as a 2005 silver BMW, which prosecutors accuse McCray of using to deal drugs.
Mc Cray was charged with possession of heroin under one half ounce with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park, possession of CDS (alprazolam and oxycodone) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS (alprazolam and oxycodone) and possession of drug paraphernalia (Digital Scale and Packaging Materials), prosecutors said.
Ocean County Superior Court Judge James Blaney set bail for Mc Cray at $200,000, no ten percent option, prosecutors said.
Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrants were members of the Toms River Police Department Emergency Services Unit and the Toms Police K-9 Unit.
