In the South Seaside Park section of Berkeley Township, we have no water, or ice and the Township has it 17 miles away, yes 17 miles away on Route 9. Why cant they set up a relief center on the island? We are constantly ignored while paying the highest taxes in the entire township.

Any news as to when we might be able to return to our south seaside park houses to check on the status and get some personal belongings?

Macy's @ Ocean County Mall is open until 6pm today. We have charging stations and free wifi for all.

I agree with Mom. How can they say it's not safe to go to school next week but it's ok for them to walk rhe streets trick or treating. Besides the fact most people are without power so where are they going to go?

by monday most will have power and the school closings is because of the gyms and cafeterias being used for shelters. By the end of next week most people will be relocated to main shelters throughout the state. If I had children I would bring them out trick or treating, we need to find a little happiness within all the sadness.

Also Atlanta Bread is open until 9pm and they have free wifi and charging plugs throughout the store. Went by there for lunch and they are trying to acomidate the best they can for everyone.

I read this article, I read the one from Gov. Christie. Anyone on here know any details about the pretty much complete loss to power yesterday in Holiday City Berkeley? If anyone is in the know, any idea about when power will be restored to HCB area?

I talked to someone today who lives in another Holiday and they have power to there community. Wonder what happened.

The message from the school said they were closed for the safety of the children because some roads are impassible and some schools no power.

It is literally thr FIRST time I have seen a written article from an authoritive person that gave us island property owners any clue of when/how we will ever get back on the island.
What did they forget how to use the Internet?
And FEMA, don't get me started. First of all, it's the same old government beuracracy. Second, if your island home is a second home, you get NOTHING from FEMA, or any other government program. Why don't they publish this, so that 90 percent of island homeowners don't have to waste their time figuring this out. Hello, uncle Sam. Let's have more Fed Government Obama, so we can have more waste.

Better to cancel the trick or treating this year than to risk one child being hurt. Still too many neighborhoods with no power, trees down etc.

Here's a thought, if trick or treating is so important then why not host it at the Ocean County Mall during day light hours. This way the kids can get they're sugar buzz and stay safe too.

Parents should go and supervise and stay clear of wires etc! I wish I could take my kids trick or treating but I was afraid they were getting colds so off to grandparents they went at 615 this morning. Ill join them after a dr appt I'd not b able to get to bc of nys 3 or more in car or you must travel certain routes like the bridges etc to get to nj from 12 am to 6 am.

Fema is a joke. How many thousands of these homes are vacation or second homes? Most of them and we will get zilch to rebuild or repair. Every homeowner should get help somehow. And do i still pay taxes and utilities on a home i cant even use? What is that answer?

I do sympathize with all the Homeowners, but what about Us Renters that live on the barrier islands all year. I live in Seaside Heights all year. I have all my belongings left there. What are we supposed to do? What will FEMA do for us?

We our hard working tax payers...some of these homes have been our family's for years...or our examples of how hard we worked to get them !! The satellite only shows the roof of your homes if that... wE will be greatly appriecated if we can get more then that!! We live on N.W Central Ave.Seaside Park near bait and tackle ..if anyone has info...??? Getting mixed answers..my in-laws permanent residence..they have everything there ,all they have is the clothes on there back ..the not knowing is the worst..hopefully we get answers soon..

How about following the Mayor of Lavalette who only posted positive photos of his town we are all aware of the devistation which hit Orthley we would also want to see our homes which are still in tact my home is on 223 Delmuth Ave I am sure many others would like to see as many blocks in town to get an idea what to expect when we are TO GO DOWN. One of our many concerns is the water left in the pipes and we would like to go down and turn the faucets,drain the toilet before before the pipes freeze and bust causing more interior damage. please include some positive photos and what about tax payments for homes no longer there, utilities? will they be charging minimum paymts. Are only homeowners expected to make sacrifices? I also do not have flood insurance which I cancelled in the last couple of years we have been there for 32 yrs and never had water until now!!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost their home, God give you the strenght you will need in the coming weeks and months. We are strong people and we will SURVIVE
