Toms River Police are investigating two incidents: an attempted home burglary and a burglary where jewelry and cash were stolen.

A Dino Boulevard home was burglarized Monday night into Tuesday morning, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Police are investigated the theft of jewelry and cash from the home, off New Hampshire and Old Freehold roads, Monday night into Tuesday. Officer Michael Gallipoli determined that the suspect, or suspects, entered through a garage door that was inadvertently left open during the night, said the police chief.

Mastronardy said the residents may have been home at the time as the suspect made off with the proceeds.

"It is believed the residents were in another area of the home when someone entered, then removed jewelry and cash from the upstairs bedroom," Mastronardy said in an email

Man Rings Doorbell Numerous Times In Attempted Burglary in Holiday City Silverton

Mastronardy said a man rang a doorbell of a Holiday City Silverton home numerous times, attempted to enter the rear of the home and then fled after realizing the house was occupied.

Officer Dan Ruiz is investigating an attempted burglary to a home on Mount Juliano Lane just before midnight on Monday night. 

A resident and her care taker were in the home in the senior community when someone rang their doorbell numerous times, said the police chief.

Then the occupants saw a man in the back yard, he said.

"Shortly after a white male with a back pack walked to the rear of the home and attempted entry but ran off when he realized the house was occupied," said Mastronardy.
