Traffic Light Coming At Todd Road and Church Road

County Freeholders out to bid for the work

A new traffic light will be coming to the intersection of Church and Todd Road in Toms River to help control three lanes of traffic on Church Road and two on Church Road.

Ocean County’s freeholders expected to approve advertising for bids for the traffic light on Wednesday. The tab is expected to be around $475,000 and include a new light at Veterans Highway at Butterfly Road and Grand Blvd. in Jackson, according to Freeholder John P. Kelly.

At the same meeting Wednesday, the freeholders are expected to award a $194,590 contract to Road Safety Systems of Vincentown for sign and guardrail upgrades on Route 571 between Routes 547 and 537 in Manchester and Jackson Townships, said county Engineer Frank Scarantino.

“These are purely safety upgrades,’’ he said.

The freeholders are also slated to pass a resolution backing an application by Brick officials to the NJ Department of Transportation to install red light violation cameras at Brick Blvd., and Molly Lane.

Scheduled to be introduced Wednesday are spending measures for:

$750,000 to redevelop Berkeley Island Park and buy park lands in Tuckerton and Ocean Township.

$1 million to install equipment wash pads at the county golf courses in Brick and Little Egg Harbor Townships and other county facilities.

$300,000 to replace rotor blades and a mosquito sprayer system on a helicopter owned by the county Mosquito Extermination Commission.

$250,000 for renovations and repairs to branches of the county library.

I live on Todd rd and completely oppose the light so how about you shut your mouth and get over the fact that you did not work hard enough in your life to live in a beautiful area such as Todd rd. Instead of complaining about it on toms river patch how about you get your ass up and do something about it.

I Live on Todd Road, Probably one of the smallest homes. I also live on that corner where they want the light. The issue is safety. The number of accidents is because of drivers using Todd Road as a cut thru to Old Freehold. It is not the neighbors that want the light, it is the township for safety reasons. Believe me we are not looking forward to a blinking light coming in our window at night

"$1 million to install equipment wash pads at the county golf courses in Brick and Little Egg Harbor Townships and other county facilities." -- Really? During these difficult times, the Freeloaders are spending a million of OUR money to coddle their country-club pals and political contributors!

And nearby on Old Freehold Rd. -- What's with the ILLEGAL traffic barrels and stand-up reflectors in the middle of Old Freehold near Church. Does one of the county freeloaders' cronies live at 1715 Old Freehold? Those roadway hazards are specifically for the private home's driveway there -- as if the white lines for the private turning lane into his driveway aren't enough.

The county engineer, county road dept. or the freeloaders themselves have allowed these "temporary" barriers to stay for several months. THEY ARE TRAFFIC HAZARDS. Get them out of the road now!

Furthermore, why is Church at that corner labeled "do not use shoulder" when a turning lane would alleviate the daily delays for cars turning right from Church onto Old Freehold? Special favors for campaign contributors and others connected to the ruling party have got to go!
