Trashing Your Christmas Tree? Toms River's Rules

Curbside pick-up is Jan. 15 through 31

You've taken off the year balls and untangled yourself from tinsel. But if you're thinking of tossing your Christmas tree curbside this week, you're a little early for the special trash pickup.

In Toms River, public works begins trash pickup of Christmas trees from Jan. 15 through 31. Place the trees at the curb for collection.

However, if you want to give your tree a new life as wood chips, Toms River also runs a recycling program in January.

Toms River Parks and Recreation Department conducts a Christmas tree recycling program each January, where dropped off trees are mulched into wood chips.

Residents can take their tree to any one of the following locations through January:

  • Skyview Park (Vaughn Avenue)
  • Riverwood Park (Riverwood Avenue)
  • Silverton Park (Maine Street)
  • Bayside Park (Bay Blvd., Ortley)
  • Bey Lea Park (Tennis Court and Parking Lot)
  • Chadwick Beach Park (Strickland Blvd.)
  • Money Island Park (Longfellow Avenue)
  • Winding River Park - South (Off Rt. 37 West)
  • Toms River Township Recycling Center (Church Road)
  • After Jan. 31, all trees must be dropped off at our Recycling Convenience Center on Church Road.
