Two Break-ins of Pleasant Plains Homes This Week

One burglary Monday, a second attempted burglary Tuesday

Two Pleasant Plains homes were burglarized about the same time Monday and yesterday, police said.

In both cases, suspects used force on doors. The homes were empty at the time, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

“Are they related? We are investigating that,” Mastronardy said. “There have been no incidents today.”

In the Monday burglary, a Clayton Avenue home’s rear door was forced open, said the police chief. More than $1,000 in jewelry was stolen between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Officers Steven Austin and Frank Moschella are investigating.

In the second incident, police responded to a Grande Woodlands Way, off Whitesville Road, just before 2 p.m. Tuesday. An alarm at the home had been tripped, and police arrived to find the front door with signs of forced entry, police said.

“They attempted to force entry thru the front door and apparently were scared off by the alarm,” Mastronardy said. Officers Austin and Ron Sermarini are investigating.

In either incident, no description of the suspects or how they fled was available, Mastronardy said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police headquarters at 732-349-0150.

Stop break ins today by securing the most vulnerable spot in your home, the rear sliding glass door. Most locks don't do the trick, but www.safeslider.com has door locks that can stand up to anything burglars throw at it. Check it out today.
