Ward 2: Holiday City Dam, Gilford Park Drainage Projects

Councilman explains projects

Column as submitted by Toms River Councilman Brian Kubiel:

This month I'd like to update everyone on the status of the improvement projects within the Township.  Our focus continues to be on maintaining a safe and secure community, and working on improvements throughout our town.  Below is an update on the progress with some of the projects within Ward 2.

Holiday City Dam Pipe Repair Project:

After a long approval process with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the Toms River Township Council passed a resolution authorizing the purchasing division to advertise and receive bids for the Holiday City Dam Pipe repair project.  This repair is required as the emergency spillway pipe has collapsed under the roadway.  The spillway pipe’s function is to alleviate failure of the dam.  By repairing the pipe this will in turn prevent any damage to the roadway.  The project will also have a positive drainage effect to ensure that the dam remains to function properly and should offer additional protection should the dam malfunction.  This project could begin as early as late summer or fall of this year, and when the project repair begins Mt Caramel Blvd. will be closed for the duration of the project and an alternative traveling route will need to be followed.

Gilford Park Drainage:

The Gilford Park Drainage project has been completed and will offer the residents in this area enhanced storm water drainage.  I would like to extend gratitude to the Township Engineering Department for their supervision and timely completion of this project.

How about hiring more police officers?? This town has been turned over to the gangs and criminals, and is becoming a terrible place. Maybe when the mayor is done with his daily puppet photo shoot, you can ask him about it.

TR's quality of life is going down the drain, that's what. It's thanks to double-dipping politicians like Kubiel.

I agree Kubiel is a waste

The police department is short many officers due to retirements that the township is not replacing. What are the politicians doing with all this money saved from retirements? Kubiel is nothing more for a yes man for the GOP. After all, the GOP has handed him every job he has ever had. We need people running this town who cares about it

I understand all that, but he made a drainage improvement in one area of town & is working on preventing a catastrophe on the other side of town, which would cost hundreds of thousands to fix. So where do cops & gangs come into this article?
