Thieves Steal Dog During Home Invasion
It’s bad enough to think about someone breaking into your house and stealing your belongings, but what if someone robbed you of your new pet?
That’s what happened to a Toms River resident, and she needs your help.
Patricia Donahue suddenly and unexpectedly lost her boyfriend in early April, and got a Havanese mix puppy named Fiona to help her through that tough time.
Early yesterday morning, Donahue’s house was robbed, taking not only material possessions, but Fiona as well.
The family is offering $500 for the safe return of the 11-week-old puppy.

I would be devestated! I live in the area and will certainly be on the lookout and I will tell my neighbors too. I wouldn't think of taking reward money if I were able to find that puppy and bring her home!
Check the shelters and the want ads. You never know what these thieves will do!

Have you contacted "I Lost My Dog" in Toms River?. I hear they are really good at finding lost pets. I am sick just reading about this. I can't imagine the pain of the family. I have two Havanese and I love them so much!

Are they 100% sure the dog was taken and not "escaped" when they kicked in the door? If he escaped, he's holed up somewhere in a wooded area or under a porch locally. The rain today will make it harder on the poor little guy. Look around the neighborhood in unlikely places that will look like "hideouts" for him. If he's crate trained, he'll be looking for someplace to hunker down that is small and unnoticeable to the eye. He will NOT come to name if he's frightened, so you have to be diligent and think creatively.
I know all that from having a dog escape some years ago. He came home on his own, but it was hours of searching the woods for him. From the "evidence" in his fur, we walked past his hole several times looking for him.
Check Craigslist ads as well. Even though it's illegal, check Ebay too. People try to get away with pet sales there until the ad is reported.
Check the shelters! Hopefully someone found the dog and brought him to a shelter. Shelter workers won't notify anyone unless the animal is microchipped and then again, I'm not 100% sure on that. They also don't always read online blogs.
