Clouds Today, But Nor'Easter Set to Roll In Tonight

Minor tidal flooding, beach erosion forecast

The Jersey Shore will tangle with the first nor'easter of the 2013 fall season this week.

The storm has formed from the remnants of Tropical Storm Karen and is expected to move up the east coast starting Wednesday. Our area will likely see the first rain drops late today or early this evening.

The bulk of the rain will begin after 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service's office in Mount Holly. Northeast winds will be sustained at about 18 m.p.h. through Thursday night, but will gust to 50 m.p.h. The steady rain will taper off by Friday but showers could linger through Sunday.

Minor tidal flooding and beach erosion, as well as seas between 7 and 10 feet offshore, will accompany the storm through Friday. A small craft advisory was in effect through Wednesday night and was expected to be extended. Coastal flooding and beach erosion could be locally moderate.

Clouds will stick around through Monday, forecasters said.
