UPDATE: Township Says Power Outage Will Only Affect Apartment Complex

Toms River earlier advised entire town could be affected

Toms River officials said Monday night that a planned power outage in town scheduled for Tuesday would only be affecting an apartment complex.

Earlier, the township's Office of Emergency Management said the township as a whole would be affected and electric customers would be out of power for two hours during the day, with a certain swath of customers experiencing a seven hour-long outage.

"More recent information from JCP&L indicates that the Jamestown Apartment section of town will be the only area affected by tomorrow's planned power outage for improvements," Toms River OEM said in an updated message just after 7 p.m.

The message urges customers who have questions to contact JPC&L on their customer service line at 800-662-3115.

Dominion has nothing to do with JCP&L's antiquated power grid, Kimbo. Dominion is the source of the electric energy, but we're still stuck with JCP&L's frayed wires, leaning poles and outdated substations. They're the real problem. The politicians merely want to automatically sign up all Toms River properties with a Virginia company that charges less than JCP&L -- but more than other suppliers. OPT-OUT immediately and shop for the lowest rate at the state BPU website. Save 10-15%.
