It’s Monday – a painful day for most people, yours truly included. Sometimes it is made even more painful as we remember just how much money we ended up spending over the weekend.

It’s one word that can make people cringe, angry and sad all at the same time, a rare occurrence indeed. There are plenty of reasons for this – people are told at work that their budgets are being cut, their ideas cannot be funded because they are not in the budget, and in our personal life, our budgets don’t usually quite match up to our desires.

Summertime usually means taking vacation, visiting the shore, traveling to see friends and family, and just having a good time overall. All of these festivities and traveling around to see and enjoy these summertime activities generates a lot of driving. Summer season is well-known for being “driving season,” and those gas bills can really start to take a large bit out of your personal budget. Fortunately there are several things that can be done to help with these gas costs.

1) Car pooling (always a favorite)
2) Make your tires are balanced and rotated
3) Don’t overly accelerate
4) Use other options – if you do not have to drive, use other options
