Sci Fi...or Good Investing?

In science fiction there is a phrase that is referred to as the “singularity,” which is when technology and humans, for all intents and purposes, merge together. While this theory has been put forward by many people, in many forms over the years, an article on cnbc.com (a business website) cited Ray Kurzweil as a current proponent of the idea and described some of the reasoning behind this theory. This struck me as very interesting – outside of science fiction conventions and books, how many individuals have ever heard of this concept? More importantly, for our purposes, why is this being discussed on cnbc.com?

What is connection between a science fiction theory that has, at least partially, spawned a nearly endless stream of futuristic movies where people must fight against intelligent machines and the business world?

After some thought – the connection is not as far-fetched as it sounds at first.

With the rise of Google glass, and the other options will inevitably follow, this represents a real-time, heads-up display (HUD) of information directly from the internet projected right into the eyeglasses that you are wearing. This represents, arguably, the next leap forward in wearable technology.
