HARROGATE HOSTS HAWAIIAN LUAU FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Harrogate, a Life Care Continuing Care Retirement Community in Ocean County, spent the afternoon celebrating with an Hawaiian Luau themed party to continue its 25th Anniversary fundraising events. Over 200 Ocean County residents joined the senior living community to raise approximately $1,400 for Ocean Ride Transportation and the community walking trail project.

“Through our 25th Anniversary celebrations, we have been able to further our commitment to the betterment of Ocean County and its residents. So far, the Harrogate family has raised approximately $9,400 for local non-profit organizations,” states Don Johansen, Executive Director of Harrogate. “The Hawaiian Luau was a fun-filled, entertaining way to involve our staff, residents and their families to help s reach our goal to raise $25,000 for area charities and non-profit organizations.”

During the Luau, Harrogate’s Dining Services department held a pig roast, and provided guests with pulled pork barbeque sandwiches, pineapple teriyaki chicken wings, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, ice cream and fruit smoothies. Additionally attendees enjoyed various activities and entertainment, including:
Island music by Tino’s Hawaiian Luau Entertainment
Hawaiian Hula dancers, Nhan Bui and Froza Mercado
A moon bounce
Pie eating and Hula hoop contests
A balloon toss

Approximately $1,000 of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Ocean Ride Transportation. This community transportation service provides door-to-door, non-emergency medical transportation service to seniors and persons with disabilities throughout Ocean County.

The remaining proceeds will go toward Harrogate’s community walking trail project, which is an addition of new walking trails located along the eastern and southern perimeters of Harrogate’s property. The trails are open to residents, staff, friends and family and allow for preservation of the area’s natural landscape.

During the month of July, Harrogate will host several seminars and events to culminate its 25th Anniversary celebration.
