Kimball Medical Center Presents Healthy Aging Interactive Summit

Prescription drop-offs, health screenings and information from board-certified physicians

Ocean County has the highest number of people age 65 and older in the state, each with a unique healthcare need. September is National Healthy Aging Month, and to recognize and spread awareness of the importance of senior health, Kimball Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, will host a Healthy Aging Interactive Summit on Tuesday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Crystal Point Yacht Club in Point Pleasant.

During the Summit, seniors are encouraged to discard their unused, unwanted or expired medications at the prescription drop-off site, which will be offered in cooperation with local law enforcement.

The Summit will also feature health screenings such as cholesterol and glucose readings, balance screenings and blood pressure monitoring offered by hospital clinicians. Guests will enjoy buffet-style food while board-certified physicians discuss a variety of age-related topics, including:

  • “7 Signs of Aging” presented by Sara Ali, MD, medical director, Center for Healthy Aging at Kimball Medical Center
  • General Prostate Health” presented by Mukaram Gazi, MD, chief of urology at Kimball Medical Center
  • Geriatric Emergency Medicine Units - What Are They?” presented by William Downs, DO, assistant director of Emergency Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center

In addition to providing the latest information on senior health and wellness, Kimball will also share its plans to open a Geriatric Emergency Department later this year in collaboration with Monmouth Medical Center.
