Kimball Medical Center Welcomes New Chairman of Emergency Medicine

Kimball Medical Center recently announced Victor M. Almeida, DO, as the hospital’s new chairman of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Almeida is also chairman of Emergency Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center. The addition of Dr. Almeida at Kimball represents one of the first efforts by the two hospitals, which announced in January their intention to merge, to align their clinical departments so patients can expect similar experiences at both hospitals.

“Dr. Almeida is a key addition to Kimball Medical Center and his presence here is vital to us successfully merging our two hospitals,” said Michael Mimoso, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kimball. “Dr. Almeida will identify opportunities for the Emergency Departments at both hospitals to improve, to bring what Kimball does well to Monmouth and vice versa.”

Kimball’s Emergency Room routinely ranks among the top 10 percent in New Jersey – and among the top 5 percent in the nation – in patient satisfaction surveys. It can routinely treat patients with minor ailments in less than an hour and announced last year that patients can now go online or on their smart phones to pre-notify the Emergency Room of their impending arrival through an application called iTriage.

Dr. Almeida is not a stranger at Kimball. Dr. Almeida played a key leadership role bringing enhanced Pediatric Emergency Services to Kimball in partnership with the Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center.

Board certified in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Almeida earned his undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the UMDNJ – School of Osteopathic Medicine. He performed his internship at Atlantic City Medical Center and his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

“The Emergency Room is the main entry point for most patients who are admitted to a hospital,” Dr. Almeida said. “By aligning our Emergency Rooms more closely, we’re taking a significant step toward our goal of improving care for the communities we proudly serve.”
