New Jersey CyberKnife® Welcomes Neurosurgeon, Expands Brain and Spine Tumor Treatment Expertise

TOMS RIVER, N.J. – New Jersey CyberKnife, a service of Community Medical Center, welcomes Dr. John Lipani to the team of physicians certified to treat tumors in cancer patients with CyberKnife®, an advanced noninvasive cancer treatment option. 

Dr. Lipani is a board-certified neurosurgeon and the founding director of Princeton Neurological Surgery and the JD Lipani Radiosurgery Institute. Having treated more than 3,500 brain and spinal tumor patients with CyberKnife technology, Dr. Lipani is a nationally recognized specialist in the field of brain and spine stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).

“Dr. Lipani brings a wealth of experience and skill to our team,” says Dr. David D’Ambrosio, medical director of New Jersey CyberKnife. “His extensive training treating cancerous and noncancerous conditions in the brain and spine with CyberKnife radiosurgery expands our clinical team’s specialized expertise.”

Treatment of brain and spinal tumors at New Jersey CyberKnife involves a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach between radiation oncologists and surgeons who work as a team to develop customized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific case. Dr. Lipani joins a team of experienced physicians at New Jersey CyberKnife including board-certified radiation oncologists, Drs. David D’Ambrosio and Rajesh Iyer and board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Richard Hartwell.

CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery is a nonsurgical treatment in which high-dose radiation is delivered with pinpoint precision to tumors and lesions in five or fewer outpatient treatment sessions. While CyberKnife can treat several types of central nervous system conditions, including primary and metastatic brain and spinal tumors, the robotic technology can also treat noncancerous conditions like trigeminal neuralgia and acoustic neuromas.
