Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Kettle Creek Area

A boil water notice from yesterday's water main break is now lifted, says United Water

A boil water advisory in effect since Friday afternoon due to a water main break in Kettle Creek was lifted at 3:30 p.m. today.

United Water of Toms River announced Saturday that the 1,100 customers under a precautionary boil water advisory can begin regular consumption. Tests confirmed that the water met safety standards while the main was being repaired, said in an announcement.

"It is no longer necessary for these residents to boil their water for cooking and drinking," said United Water in its announcement.

The affected area included 40 streets in the Silverton and Money Island sections of Toms River: Kettle Creek Road, Green Island Drive, Grandview Drive, Bayview Drive, Channel and Anchorage roads were some of the affected roads.

The was in place due to an emergency water main break at 202 Kettle Creek Road, on the westbound side in front of Kettle Creek Marina. , Toms River Traffic Police and United Water crews responded to the main break around 10 a.m. Friday. Repairs were ongoing through 5:20 p.m. yesterday, which closed a lane of traffic to the area.

At that point of Kettle Creek Road, the street is the only means to get to Hooper Avenue from Green Island and vice versa, as connecting streets end in lagoons or culdesacs.

In its announcement, the utility company said: "United Water apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience."
