UPDATE: Fire Causes Extensive Damage to East…

First Snowfall of the Season Leaves Some Without Power Again

Tell Patch what it looks like near you.

Just two days after officials with Atlantic City Electric noted they had restored power to all those in the area that could accept it, sporadic outages were reported once again in the Manahawkin-Barnegat area, following an early snowstorm yesterday.

Although there was little accumulation in the Manahawkin-Barnegat area, the weather taxed already battered power lines, leaving a handful of people in the area without power. One resident in the Ocean Acres section of Manahawkin reported not having power for only about an hour.

The snow came just nine days after Hurricane Sandy ripped through the area leaving downed trees, power outages and flooding. At the height of the storm the utility had about 220,000 customers without power in the utility’s service territory.

A number of area residents are still without power from that storm. Atlantic City Electric officials noted earlier this week that there are also still approximately 5,000 customers, who, because of extensive damage to their homes, cannot accept electric service at this time.
