Flash Flood Watch Continued as Shore Braces for More Thunderstorms
'Dangerous, short fused' storms heading for the area, National Weather Service warns; more widespread than Monday's storms
The National Weather Service has continued a flash flood watch Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May and Monmouth counties, among other areas, on Tuesday due to the threat of severe thunderstorms.
The thunderstorms may be more widespread and produce heavier rain than was seen Monday, when only some areas such as Brick and Lakewood were pounded by storms.
Through late in the night Tuesday, the flash flood watch has been extended and the NWS's Mount Holly office is warning of rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches or more depending on the severity of a given storm.
The prime time for storms to pass through the Jersey Shore area will be between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. as the storms make their way from Pennsylvania eastward during the day, an advisory from the weather service said.
The Mount Holly office, in an advisory issued Tuesday morning, urged local residents to plan ahead for " a rather dangerous, short fused situation for parts of our area."
