MTV Raises More Than $1 Million For Seaside Heights

'Restore the Shore' aired at 11 p.m. Friday

Dozens of stars, artists and organizations helped raise more than $1 million in a one-hour MTV-driven fundraising special to help rebuild Seaside Heights.

The event is scheduled aired live at 11 p.m. Friday on MTV, MTV.com, MTV mobile and MTV radio, according to the network.

The cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore" - as well as stars from other top MTV shows including "Awkward," "Teen Wolf," "Teen Mom," "The Challenge," and "The Real World" - were live in MTV's Times Square studio, calling donors to thank them for giving, according to MTV.

Stars contributing messages of support who were to be featured on-air included One Direction, Mac Miller, Pharrell, Kim Kardashian, Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars, fun., the Jonas Brothers, All Time Low and Sean Kingston, according to MTV.

"Restore the Shore" also featured live performances from Gym Class Heroes performing the comeback anthem "The Fighter," as well as "American Idol" Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips performing his stirring hit "Home," according to MTV.

MTV asked people to donate $25 or more here and receive an MTV "Restore the Shore" song bundle, which includes 30 songs from the past six seasons of "Jersey Shore."

All funds raised will go to Architecture for Humanity, an internationally recognized non-profit that led rebuilding efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, according to MTV.

Ps for those who are fans my son showed us a pic of the jersey shore house (they say enter at your own risk and don't allow under 18s in on the buses so I'd think they dont want or recommend them there in general currently so my idiot ex goes on a driving tour with a 14 yr old?!) and it looks intact! Of course idk how it is inside but it IS at least still there and appears intact. I know the shows over but for sentimental reasons if you're a fan I figured someone may like to know that.

Never watched "Jersey Shore", but a great big thank you to MTV. Our shore will never be the same. Residents have lost so much, but it helps to know that so many are willing to give to get it back to where it should be.

What does this mean? Raised a million for Seaside? Who is getting this money? Who is it helping? What do they mean rebuild? Rebuild What? It never goes to the people that truly needs it the most. The same hypocrites that did not like the "Jersey Shore" Crew or want them in their town any longer is thanking them and now its all right. This money should go to people that needs to rebuild their streets, homes and necessities. But it won't...Just like Katrina...all these fund raisers, in the millions and people walking around homeless. I question who is getting all the money and who is actually making out in all these fundraiser deals.

Like to see aa track record of who gets that money...many crooks in NJ....I survived the storm....lost our power for 10 days but I am sad that I lost my son"s comminication device while trying to get some ice and water at a local center...It was a IPAD .He is autistic and it clearly states that on his IPAD when turned on but no one turned it in....I hopefully Get it Back because I can't buy a new/used one at this hardship time....but I do still have a place to call Home to be greatful for..

Iggy, calm down... the last line in the article says: "All funds raised will go to Architecture for Humanity, an internationally recognized non-profit that led rebuilding efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, according to MTV". It is very nice of them to help!
Steve Domanski November 17, 2012 at 03:07 PM
MTV got it rite. You like Seaside Heights, give you $$ and time to them. You like Island Beach State Park ,give your time and $$$ there. It's called restore the shore!!!! ALL OF IT.
suz November 17, 2012 at 04:24 PM
Oh boy...I think that MTV did the right thing here...there were posts on the Patch about MTV and the Jersey Shore cast not lending a hand and now that they have some still find the time to criticize. The broads are some peoples bread and butter and they need help also, no? We are all hurting. Lets try to be a little more understanding, huh?
Ken November 17, 2012 at 07:09 PM
I sill would like to know how much cash each of the members of the cast of "Jersey Shore" personally gave, since they all became millionaires because of the show. They disrupted the shore for years where you had trouble walking the boardwalk if they happened to be in the area. Security and cops would push you out of the way if you were to near them. So let's see them put up some of their own cash. I bet they didn't give a dime ot else MTV would have made a big deal of the money the cast gave.
Donna G November 17, 2012 at 07:18 PM
Ken they raised money period my guess is more then you

Ken November 17, 2012 at 09:14 PM
Donna G for your information I not only donated money, I also donated food and did volunteer work. So what did you do? Why are you sticking up for these losers anyway, unless of course you are a loser like them, but just not with the kind of money they have.
peter festa November 17, 2012 at 11:01 PM
my name s Peter and I live in Ortley Beach and my whole condo was under water with 48 inches up my wall and I dont have flood insurance and I would need some help to repair the insides of my condo.mEverything I had inside is on the curb with mold. My internet addresse is akershi10@yahoo.com thank you.
Donna G November 17, 2012 at 11:54 PM
@Ken suuuuuuuuuuuuuure you did Those 'losers" as you call them raised how much? They are no different then most college kids but were smart enough to cash in
Mary Ellen Sweetman November 18, 2012 at 02:36 AM
Shame the worst always comes out on here!! Thank you Jersey Shore Cast and all that helped!!! period!!!!
Ken November 18, 2012 at 04:20 AM
If they represent most college students all I can say is God help us!!! I take it that you are a "Jersey Shore" wannabe. As far as if you believe what I did or did not do I really do not care, since you seem as much of a loser as they are.
Eva November 18, 2012 at 06:18 AM
How can people b so negative. I think many people are just doing what they can to help. This is not the time to complain, ken. I take it sandy did not humble you.
Iggy S November 18, 2012 at 07:50 AM
I am guessing you are a kid with the name you go under...What do you mean? Calm down, you are naive. I don't care what they tell you, very little is going to get to who really needs money. Why do you think I know this? Because I am old and I have seen many con artist in my time, it has only gotten worse. There is a lot of corruption, knaivers, gougers and dishonest people in this world. Did you actually read my post, I know individuals that went to Katrina, after seeing many fund raisers for Katrina, collecting a lot of money, in the millions many were walking around homeless, no help. Why is that? Because the money was not getting to those who truly needed it. Everyone was skimming and scamming money for themselves. Are you saying we should trust all these organizations and fund raisers, Why? When over and over someone proves the money is not going where it should be. Hey,, you believe what you want and I will believe what I already knows what is happening.
lisa November 18, 2012 at 10:50 AM
I am not a big fan of the shore or what those kids represent however they are done filming, show is over and they got together to give back. Kudo's to the cast. If you guys don't want their help, we will take it in Brick. I have a friend who's mom lost the entire first floor of her house and the entire second house on her property where her grandson lives with his baby in Seaside Heights, just lost her husband and has no insurance...it would be nice to see her get some of this money.
Iggy S November 18, 2012 at 03:13 PM
I don't have a problem with the jersey Shore cast or MTV...my problem is those who need the money and help the most will not get it. The money will be split up after everyone takes their piece of the action, then it will go to those who knows someone and everyone else will have to fend for themselves like everything else in life. It is always the who knows who in life that gets help that does not even need it, has insurance and money.
Rich November 18, 2012 at 10:46 PM
For the amount of money mtv made off the jersey shore....they should match the viewer contributions dollar for dollar...if not more.
Tina November 20, 2012 at 05:58 PM
MTV collaborated with Architecture for Humanity, and orginization that helped rebuild Haiti after the quake and Areas affected by Katrina, the funds are intended to help rebuild the Jersey Shore, the homes, businesses, Boardwalks, and places of interest. I am a fan of the show, and also a SSH resident, I am grateful for what they did. However, using their celebrity to get the fans to fork up the dough I do not agree with. They the Jersey Shore cast, love SSH so much they should give back, time or money. Yes I know the Nicole P, donated clothes which I think is great. But there is a lot more to be done.
Tina November 20, 2012 at 05:59 PM
exactly my point i made above!
Tina November 20, 2012 at 06:04 PM
I live or lived rather in SSH until this storm happend, I am a fan of this show, as I stated above, I am grateful for the time they have put in. HOWEVER, i think they need to put up the dough or the time there cleaning up. Not asking their fans to put the dough up. I went to one benefit for the sandy victims and my family and I are ones ourselves. Will I see any of the money I put in or will I see anything from this show? No probably not on either acct., as much as I need the help I am not going around asking for it. My home was a rental so we won't be going back as much as I would like to. I loved my town, with all of its quirks and all of the negative vibes ppl had of it. I loved being able to walk up the block to sit on the bench at the boardwalk, or lay on the beach, or play in the surf right on my block. For the record, I never had any problems walking the boards when they were around, i just avoided it. :)
Tina November 20, 2012 at 06:07 PM
its not meant for ppl directly from what the show said, its to fix homes, and businesses and the shore itself.
STEVEN DOMINICK November 27, 2012 at 03:32 AM
its a start...
brokeninbayville December 13, 2012 at 02:12 PM
I hope that the money DOES go to rebuild homes, not just businesses and boardwalks. I know they are essential, but just divide up evenly. Also, all these other fundraisers, how do we find out where their money is going and how to get some to the homeowners also? Would love the help to rebuild my home also.
