No Right Turn on Red, No Parking Times Begin

Several streets and intersections make switch every September

Read the fine print on those street signs. The first Monday in September signals the beginning of a new traffic schedule at some Toms River streets.

It's that time of year again, when as September hits, traffic regulations in effect through June 30 begin on a list of intersections and streets.

In some cases, September 1 is the start date for No Turn On Red between designated hours, such as the right turn from Clifton Avenue to Washington Street.

Elsewhere, streets surrounding schools become no-parking zones starting September 1.

The times may vary. For example, near Cedar Grove Elementary School, on the northside of Brookside Drive no parking is permitted from Carol Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Near High School East, Ravenwood from Coolidge Avenue to Huckleberry Lane, there's no parking permitted 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, September 1 to June 30.

The complete list of affected areas is in the municipal code, available online, and the ordinance specifically dealing with no parking is found here.
