Sandy Benefit Run Set for Sunday

April 28 event at High School North will benefit families impacted by Superstorm Sandy

The Door21 Foundation, a community grassroots organization that has been aiding with Superstorm Sandy relief, will host the "Shore to Run" 5K and 1 mile fun run at High School North this weekend.

Opening at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, the run will "benefit victims of Sandy and bring awareness to the community that are neighbors are still in need," according to foundation member Kristen Gibbs.

In addition to an information area for storm victims and interested volunteers, over 20 vendors will be on-hand at the 1245 Old Freehold Rd. school with food and prizes, and music performed by area band The Amused.

Gibbs said that about 100 participants have signed up so far — registration can be completed online — and the organization would be pleased to double that amount of support. Those interested in participating also can sign up on the day of the event.

Registration for families affected by Sandy is free. Regular registration is $25 for the 5K and $10 for the 1 mile run.
