Staff at the Marine Mammal Stranding Center rescued a seal from a painful situation at Island Beach State Park on Thursday night.

According to a statement from the center, the staff received a call from park rangers telling them there was a seal on the beach with a fish hook stuck in its nose.

"Our staff went to the scene and were able to remove the hook and set the animal free," the statement said.

It wasn't the grey seal's first hard luck story, apparently. When stranding center volunteers found her, she had a tag indicating she was a recent patient at Riverhead Foundation in New York, another organization that rescues marine mammals.

"We guess she just got a little too close to a fish on a line," the statement said.

A photo of the injured seal was not distributed.

The Stranding center called the Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Squad (BTUSAR) Squad 86 for assistance locating the seal. We were happy to help. More details and photos on our Facebook page. http://on.fb.me/1nhMQWS

If this was story about a seal with a crab claw caught in its throat, it would not be a story. The media looks for any excuse to indict and condemn mankind for existing on the planet. Don't fall for the lame attempt to make youself feel guilty for existing. The intent is to make you sympathetic to liberal environmental causes.

"If this was a story about a seal...........it would not be a story" How can it BE a story but NOT BE a story?
