Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect Late Afternoon

National Weather Service warns of potential 60 mph winds, hail

A summer thunderstorm with a predicted 60 mile per hour winds and potential for hail is moving slowly across central New Jersey toward Ocean County, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect through 5 p.m. as the storm moves east.

According to the NWS' Mount Holly office: "The storm is moving east at 25 mph and is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, hail and cloud to ground lightning. Move indoors if storm approaches your location."

The storm comes on the tail end of a weekend wrought with reported power outages along the barrier island section of Toms River, as well as beachfront communities of Bradley Beach.

Temperatures are a reported 93 degrees in Toms River as summer traffic builds on Route 37 westbound for the commute home.
